DOSWELL, VA – A CSX employee was killed after being struck by a train in Doswell, Virginia on Thursday, June 10, 2010. The victim has been identified as Marshall W. Conner, 54 years old, from Spring Grove, VA. The accident happened shortly after 10:00 a.m. while Connor was working in a rail yard alongside the tracks.

SMITHSBURG, MD — A CSX train that was travelling from Hanover to Hagerstown, Maryland derailed in Smithsburg around 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 8, 2010. The derailment occurred just past the rail crossing at Maple Ave. where the train hit a track switch causing the end cars to become unbalanced and derail.
Smithsburg is located in Washington County, Maryland. CLEVELAND, NC – A tractor-trailer collided with a Norfolk Southern train in Cleveland, North Carolina on June 7, 2010. The truck driver was injured but at this time there are no reports if any railroad workers sustained injuries as a result of this incident. The accident occurred in front of Shaver Wood Products in Rowan County at about 10:30 in the morning near Statesville Boulevard (U.S. 70). KEARNY, NJ — A New Jersey Transit worker died after he was struck by a wayward locomotive in a railroad maintenance yard in Kearny, New Jersey early Monday morning, June 1, 2010 around 3:30 a.m. The railroad worker who was killed was identified as 63-year-old NJ Transit worker, Greg Kastner.

CHATTANOOGA, TN – The Federal Railroad Administration is investigating the May 23 CSX train derailment in Chattanooga, Tennessee, which happened at about 4:30 p.m. near the 3200 block of Broad Street. Officials may also be looking at the steadily rising number of accidents in the area.
The CSX derailment was at least the third this year in Chattanooga. CHATTANOOGA, TN – A CSX train derailed in downtown Chattanooga, TN on Sunday afternoon, May 23, 2010 at around 4:30 p.m. The derailment involved 28 cars which jumped the tracks near the 3200 block of Broad Street and St. Elmo Ave. near the old Wheland Foundry site.
