MIDVALE, UT – A TRAX commuter train crashed into an empty passenger car that was sitting on the tracks on November 6, derailing the train and injuring two passengers and a railroad employee in Midvale, Utah. Midvale is located in Salt Lake County, Utah in the north-central part of the state about 12 miles south of Salt Lake City.
BRADNER, OH – Three CSX railroad employees were injured at a rail crossing just south of Bradner, OH on October 28, when a motorist drove around construction barriers and hit a utility pole and then ran into the workers. Bradner is located in Wood County, Ohio in the northeastern part of the state about 30.4 miles southeast of Toledo.
SANFORD, FL – A railroad worker was killed on October 24, when a rail car filled with tons of gravel tipped over in a train derailment at a construction site for a new commuter rail station in Sanford, FL. Sanford is located in Seminole County, Florida in the eastern part of the state about 25 miles northeast of Orlando.
WALNUT CREEK, CA – Two railroad workers were killed in a BART train accident in Walnut Creek, CA on October 19, while doing track inspection. Walnut Creek is located in Contra Costa County, California in the central part of the state about 25 miles northeast of San Francisco.
JEWETT, TX – A Union Pacific train derailed on October 16, in Jewett, TX, blocking U.S. Highway 79 and shutting down traffic. the city of Jewett is located in Leon County, Texas in the eastern central part of the state about 68 miles southeast of Waco.
CHEAT BRIDGE, WV. – A truck driver was killed and 63 rail passengers and crew were injured on October 11, when a logging truck crashed into a sightseeing train in Cheat Bridge, WV. Cheat Bridge is an unincorporated community located in the Monongahela National Forest in southeastern Randolph County in the east-central part of the state.
WASHINGTON, DC – A welder, who was an employee of a company contracted by the WMATA (Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority), was killed in a blast on October 6, while welding new rail sections in one of the tunnels near Union Station in D.C.
RUFFIN, NC – A Norfolk Southern train derailed on Tuesday October 1, in Ruffin, NC blocking the road with one rail car and sending another into a residential back yard.
MCBEAN, GA – A Norfolk Southern train derailed on September 17, when a semi truck crashed into it in Burke County, GA. McBean is located in Richmond County, Georgia in the eastern part of the state. The accident site was in Burke County, GA near the Richmond County line about 17.6 miles southeast of Augusta.
CLEVELAND, NC – One person was injured on September 23 when a Norfolk Southern train collided with a dump truck in Cleveland, NC. Cleveland is located in Rowan County, in the west-central part of the state about 141 miles west of Raleigh.
