SAN ANTONIO, NM – A BNSF train derailed about 9 miles south of San Antonio in the Bosque del Apache National Wildlife Refuge on July 27, 2010. The derailment occurred at the southern end of the refuge about 5:30 a.m. on Tuesday morning.

On April 25, 2010, the plaintiff was operating a tractor in order to move a chassis in the yard. When the plaintiff approached the chassis that was to be moved, the dolly legs on the chassis were not raised high enough, which prevented the tractor and the chassis from properly lining up. SUGAR CREEK, MO – It was around 1:00 am Saturday morning, July 3, when a witness reported a train derailment in Sugar Creek, Missouri. Seventeen cars derailed and six cars overturned. One car that carried a chemical called Toluene was ignited which caused the rail car to explode.

ENID, OK — A train belonging to Farm Rail Company derailed on the BNSF railway closing three intersections this morning in Enid, OK. The incident occurred at about 10:20 a.m.involving three cars that derailed along Johnson Avenue, closing the crossings at Broadway, Elm and Randolph avenues.

THERMOPOLIS, WY – According to railroad officials, a Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway (BNSF) train derailed on May 12, 2010 around 12:30 p.m. The derailment occurred along a 50-foot embankment alongside the Wind River about five miles south of Thermopolis at the north end of the Wind River Canyon.

Union Pacific Railroad

OMAHA, NE -  An agreement was struck between the Federal government and the Union Pacific railroad over a 2004 train derailment near San Antonio, Texas in Southwest Bexar County.

The company agreed to pay $581,855 to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for that agency’s response to the incident that released 60 tons of chlorine gas.

The deal was formalized in a lawsuit the Justice Department filed on Friday, April 2, 2010.

On June 28, 2004, a 123-car Burlington Northern-Santa Fe (BNSF) train was struck from behind by a 74-car Union Pacific (UP) train in Macdona, southwest of San Antonio. Chlorine gas spread to nearby homes from a punctured tank car on the UP train.

In the incident, the UP freight train was traveling westbound about 45 mph when it struck the side of a freight car of an eastbound BNSF Company train.  ... Read More
