HANFORD, Calif. — Amtrak Train 712 traveling from Oakland to Bakersfield was involved in an accident with a semi truck near the city of Hanford, California in Kings County. According to an Amtrak spokesperson, 169 passengers and four crew members were aboard.

In Hanford, CA a semi truck rammed into a southbound Amtrak passenger train enroute to Bakersfield, CA, derailing the train and injuring the truck driver and over 40 people.

CHICAGO, IL  — A CTA Red Line train, originally thought to have derailed, is now being called a “split switch issue,” which ended up suspending service on the north branch of the Red Line for about two hours.

SOMERSET COUNTY, Pa. — A 53-foot-long tractor trailer carrying mail was sliced in half by an oncoming CSX train on Monday, Sept 24, at a railroad crossing in Somerset, Pennsylvania due to an impatient trucker who thought he could out run the train.
