Railroad Worker Injured When Union Pacific Train Derails in Aledo, TX

ALEDO, TX – The media reported that a railroad worker was injured in a Union Pacific train derailment in Aledo, TX on July 18, 2013. Two locomotives and seven rail cars jumped the tracks while the train was entering the main line off a side track that runs parallel to the main line.

The derailment site was about 5 miles southwest of town where Aledo Rd crosses the tracks and about 15 miles southwest of Fort Worth. The 46-car train was on its way from Tucson, AZ and heading for Dallas when the derailment occurred in the early morning hours before daylight.

The injured railroad employee, who was not identified, was transported to the hospital. The extent of his injuries are unknown at this time.

One of the derailed cars was carrying cement, but, according to a Union Pacific spokesman, nothing was spilled.

The cause of the mishap is not known and is currently under investigation.

The city of Aledo is located in Parker County, Texas in the north-central part of the state about 20 miles west of Fort Worth.
