Author: CANTON, OH — A train derailment on Thursday, April 25, caused three rail cars to spill a load of plastic pellets at the Wheeling & Lake Erie Railroad Gambrinus Yard in canton, Ohio.

According to Noel Rush, spokesman for the first-responder R.J. Corman Railroad Group, three “hoppers” loaded with plastic pellets spilled at the site.

The Wheeling & Lake Erie Railway Co., which is based in Brewster, sent clean-up crews from their Toledo and Pittsburgh divisions that arrived at 6 a.m. Friday after the company was notified Thursday evening.
Alec Jarvis, vice president of law and government relations for the company, said that no one was injured in the incident and that the spilled material was not hazardous.
The incident remains under investigation at this time.
