Judge Rodney Satterwhite Recuses Himself From Midland Texas Train Crash Lawsuit.

MIDLAND, Texas — According to an article at the San Antonio Express-News, state District Judge Rodney Satterwhite recused himself from a lawsuit centered on a West Texas train crash into a parade that killed four veterans last year. Judge Satterwhite stepped aside without any explanation and did not return a call from The Associated Press Tuesday.

Judge Satterwhite has been replaced by Robert H. Moore III, a retired judge from Big Spring.

A lawsuit was filed by nine of the 12 couples on the float accusing Union Pacific of negligence when the train hit the float at 62 mph on Nov. 15. Union Pacific says Midland County and city officials and the parade organizer failed to exercise “ordinary care” in parade plans.

To this day no official cause of the accident has been announced and the incident remains under investigation by the National Transportation Safety Board.
