Author: FORT WORTH, TX — A man was killed on Monday, June 4, after a westbound Amtrak train hit him as he went down across the tracks. The man was identified as 76-year old Joe Jennings from Fort Worth, Texas.
On June 4, 2012 76 year-old Joe Jennings was killed by an Amtrak train near this intersection of Old Handley Rd and Benton Ave in Fort Worth, TX.
According to the Tarrant County medical examiner’s office, Jennings was hit about 12:40 p.m. on the railroad tracks in the 5300 block of Old Handley Road.

The Star Telegram reports that a railroad worker told investigators that he saw Jennings step onto the tracks about 12:30 p.m. as the westbound train rounded a curve. The employee said that he blew the train’s horn and that the man went down across the tracks.
Although the medical examiner ruled the manner of death an accident, the cause of death as of today is pending until toxicology reports are released.
The accident remains under investigation at this time.
