MATHIS, TX – One Union Pacific Railroad employee was killed and another critically injured while doing maintenance on a rail bridge just north of Mathis, TX on September 4.

The accident occurred around 4:30 p.m. on a rail bridge in Live Oak County, Texas, about 42.5 miles northwest of Corpus Christi just north of Mathis.

The men were in a lift about 30 feet up while doing some welding on the rail bridge when the lift fell over. One man died at the scene and another was critically injured.

The incident remains under investigation at this time.
