CAMBRIDGE, IA – A tractor was struck by a train while crossing the tracks in Cambridge, IA on August, 20, 2013. Cambridge is located in Story County, Iowa in the central part of the state about 25 miles northeast of Des Moines.

The accident happened when a tractor traveling west on 280th St near 580th Ave collided with a southbound train at the rail crossing.

The tractor driver, who was identified as Austin Shaden, 23 years old from Dunlap, IA put the tractor into reverse and attempted to move off the tracks but didn’t avoid the crash.

There were no reports of any injuries and no railroad workers were hurt in the mishap.

There was some damage to the train and the crossing signs.

The driver of the tractor was cited for failing to yield at a railroad crossing.
