ROCKVIEW, MO — A Union Pacific train traveling from Chicago to Mexico with three locomotives and 112 cars derailed on Tuesday evening, January, 29, near Rockview Missouri in Scott County.

According to Union Pacific spokesman, Mark Davis, 48 cars carrying auto parts derailed around 9:20 p.m. near Hwy. M. Davis told the media that the preliminary cause is high winds.

No injuries were reported at the time of the derailment.

KFVS 12 reports:

About 800 feet of track will have to be replaced.

Railroad crews are working to get the double stacked shipping containers back on the track.

MoDOT workers are also on the scene to investigate the derailment.

Missouri Department of Transportation is checking a bridge near the area for any damage.

The incident remains under investigation at this time.
