LONGVIEW, Texas — A semi truck that was crossing the railroad tracks on Private Road 2317 in Gregg County, Texas on Wednesday, Nov. 21, was hit by an oncoming Union Pacific train.

The Union Pacific train clipped the tractor trailer leaving pieces of the trailer scattered on the ground which stopped the train next to FM 2087 for about four hours on Wednesday morning.

According to the media, no injuries were reported, but children playing near the intersection of the accident were said to be seen running for safety.

Longview Fire Marshal Johnny Zackary said that the tractor-trailer, operated by Loggins Logistics Incorporated of Jonesboro, Ark., was carrying steel plates.

The incident remains under investigation at this time.
