KEARNY, N.J. — According to officials, a New Jersey transit worker from Bayonne was killed on Wednesday, August 22, when he was struck by track equipment at the Meadows Maintenance Complex in Kearny.

The incident occurred at approximately 1:30 p.m. The victim was identified as 44 year-old Alijandro Baroni who died from head injuries he sustained in the accident. Baroni was pronounced dead at Clara Maass Medical Center in Belleville, NJ Transit spokeswoman Nancy Snyder said.

Baroni was employed by NJ Transit as a track man for 11 years.
The incident remains under investigation by NJ Transit police and the Federal Railroad Administration at this time.
