A BNSF train derailment was reported in northwest Harris County on Thursday, August 2 near Houston when 2 trains derailed, after trying to merge onto the same track.

The train accident occurred at about 10:30 a.m Thursday morning when BNSF Railway Co., called in to report the derailment.

The incident happened at Miller Road and Fallbrook Drive. No injuries were reported at the time of the accident. The sheriff’s office said that the three cars that derailed were empty. Steve Forsberg, a BNSF spokesman, said another car loaded with flour was also affected by the collision and fell partially off the track.

Forsberg said one moving train sideswiped the other, knocking the three empty cars off the track.

The incident remains under investigation at this time.
