HOUSTON, TX – A 19-year old man was struck by a Union Pacific train traveling 12 mph on Wednesday, Oct 26, in northeast Houston at about 3:30 p.m. along a section of tracks near Lorraine and Semmes, according to Union Pacific officials.

Officials told the media that the man may have been illegally riding on the back of the train just before he was struck.

Chron.com reports:

Workers on the train told investigators they did not see the man and only learned about the incident when they were questioned at the railroad yard.

He was taken to Memorial Hermann Hospital where his condition wasn’t known later Wednesday.
