NEW CASTLE, DE -  An accident occurred on Monday afternoon, June 27, when a Norfolk Southern Railroad, originally mistaken for an Amtrak train, plowed into a tractor trailer in New Castle, Del. Monday afternoon, authorities say.

NBC Philadelphia were told by Delaware Fire dispatchers that the train was an Amtrak, but Amtrak confirmed that it was not one of their trains. Police corrected the report stating that it was Norfolk Southern.

NBC Philadelphia reports:

The accident occurred around 1:50 p.m. on Pigeon Point Road, just outside the Port of Wilmington, police say. No injuries were reported at the time of the crash.

Police arrived at the scene at about 2 p.m.

Police were trying to get the Norfolk Southern train back on its way at about 2:40 p.m. Until then, Pigeon Point Road will be closed between Terminal Avenue and Lambson Lane.
